Though this controller isn't wireless and the help is a little difficult to use, there are plenty of reasons why you should look into it. The first is that this PC game controller can be plugged into an Xbox 360 and used as a fully functional controller. We also liked that it doesn't require batteries, since it is wired. There are a few things to look for when trying to find a reliable and fully loaded PC game controller. Having a gamepad with the right features can be the determining factor between taking home the trophy and remaining a runner up. Some of the features we looked include connectivity, button customization and the functionality of the buttons. When you take all of these things into consideration you come up with a dang good gamepad.

The first feature to consider is that Razer Onza is a wired controller. This could be a problem except that the cable is 15 feet long. While we prefer wireless controllers, we thought that the cord length made up for the fact that you will be attached to your computer. The gamepad is plugged in using your USB port. Because it is plugged in, you don't have to worry about running out of power. This remote doesn't require batteries as a wireless device would.

While the gamepad is plugged in, you can reprogram the buttons for each individual game. Some of the games have a controller settings menu where you can easily customize what each button does. For games that don't include this option, you can reprogram the left and right bumpers (above the triggers on each side) ... We would have liked to see more options when it comes to programming the other buttons on the Razer Onza. This could be in the way of an application for the gamepad that lets you set up game profiles. Most of the games that recognize gamepads won't need a separate application, but you may come across a few that will take a little extra effort to get up and running. There are some games that won't accept gamepads at all.

The Razer Onza is set up as an Xbox 360 controller. There are two mini joysticks, a D-pad, four action buttons and six triggers. Unlike the PlayStation controller, which has the two joysticks at the bottom of the gamepad, this style has the right one at the bottom and the left one on the top. The D-pad is located directly across from the joystick. While some people may not be use to this layout, if they are more accustomed to the PlayStation remote, but it has all the buttons you might need for any game you want to play. The casing is made of durable plastic with anti-slip so you won't lose your grip even after lengthy play.

Convenience:

Wireless remotes are a two-edged sword. You aren't tethered to your computer, but you have to provide batteries. With the Razer Onza you do have a cord but it is 15 feet long. It's rare that anyone would want to sit any farther away from their computer than that. Plus, since it is always plugged in, you don't have to worry about running out of battery power at the key point in your game.

Ever come across the perfect controller only to have it limited on where you can use it? This gamepad isn't limited to only using on your PC. In fact this controller works with the Xbox 360 just as well. This way you don't have to invest in multiple gamepads. And there's no adjusting to a different controller when you switch from your Xbox to your computer, or vice versa.. We thought this was a great way for you to save money and make sure you are comfortable whatever game you are playing.

Help & Support:

Even when you have a fairly straightforward electronic device, help and support can make or break the deal. The last thing you want is to get your gamepad all set up and then run into a problem later only to have problems finding answers to your questions. The only concern we had with the Razer Onza support is that it is a little difficult to get to on the website. The FAQs were located on the product page, but if you want to find other product specific information than you have to dig through the site. Some of the positives include the fact that the customer support is knowledgeable about their products. We also liked the fact that the gamepad comes with a one year limited warranty.

Summary:

While some gamers may prefer a wireless controller to this one, there are plenty of reasons why this is such a good buy. Because the Razer Onza is wired, you don't have to worry about batteries or running out of power at critical points. The controller works in an Xbox 360 as well as your PC. There are tension settings for the joysticks to give you complete control over your character's movement. This is a comfortable gamepad that will give you hours upon hours of gaming time, whether you are playing Halo on your Xbox or Modern Warfare on your PC.
