Gamepads are for the games that need quick, precise movements that a mouse and keyboard can't give you. With the Saitek Rumble Pad you get the advantages of both the Xbox and the PlayStation button design because of the pivot piece under the D-pad and left joystick. Another reason we thought this PC game controller was useful is not only does it work with the PC but also with the PlayStation 2 and 3.
This gamepad has every feature we were looking for. The first is available buttons. With the Saitek Rumble Pad you have two quick-fire bumper buttons, two analog triggers, a D-pad, four action buttons and two joysticks (which also act as buttons when pressed). Though there aren't as many triggers as seen on other products, we were impressed that it comes with a PlayStation Home button so when you are using the controller on a PlayStation you still have access to the PlayStation menu options and if you are using it on a PC it works as an FPS button. These buttons are programmable so you can even use it with games that aren't already set up for gamepad use.
There are a variety of reasons why the Saitek Rumble Pad is a gamepad you should look into. The biggest advantage is the adjustable button layout. You may already know that the difference between an Xbox gamepad and a PlayStation remote is the location of the left mini joystick. For some games it is easier to have the Xbox layout while for other games it works better to have the PlayStation configuration. With Saitek Rumble Pad you can have both. The left joystick and D-pad are on a pivot so you can switch up the button layout to suit whatever game you might be playing.
One of the things we really like to see with any gamepad is versatility. Having a PC controller that adapts to multiple platforms is a big plus. The Saitek Rumble Pad not only works on the OC but is also designed so that you can use it on your PlayStation 2 or 3. This does mean that there are two ends for the cord – one for the computer and one for the PlayStation – but it wasn't a hassle.
This remote is wired, which means you don't have to worry about running out of batteries. But because it is attached to a cord you only have five feet of cable to work with. Depending on how your furniture is positioned this may be a little short, but otherwise we were really impressed with how convenient the Saitek Rumble Pad is to use whether it is for the PC or PlayStation.
The downside to this gamepad is the fact that there is no help or support offered by the manufacturer. Because this product is intended to work with a variety of software applications, having support to help troubleshoot would be valuable. There isn't any warranty included with this product either. Granted, this product shouldn't need much help and support. It should just be plug and play.
There are plenty of reasons why you should get this gamepad. It works with a PlayStation as well as a PC. It doesn't require batteries. The best feature of the Saitek Rumble Pad is the fact that you can adjust the buttons to be either the Xbox layout or the PlayStation. One of the disadvantages to this product is that there is no help or support offered. We also would have liked to see a longer cord. These issues aside, the Saitek Rumble Pad is an impressive controller that gives you the utmost flexibility so you can raise your game.
Pros
This is the only gamepad that has an adjustable design.
Cons
This product has no warranty and there is no help or support offered.
The lack of a warranty may be a little worrisome, but this product is the only one in our lineup that also works with a PlayStation.
